Understanding the CSS Box Model

Let's get to know them better before we start pointing fingers at those troublesome margins. The CSS Box Model acts as the foundation for all layouts in CSS.

Consider each HTML element as a box (including the small tag). This box has four parts: content, padding, border, and margin.
